MG ZS Expert Review
Team SayaraBay says
The significance of Saudi Arabia's automotive market in the Middle East is visible from the fact that all the top brands offer highly compelling products to buyers. In this, the overall SUV segment, largely dominated by Japanese and Korean brands, has now been pursued by new players due to the sheer size and growth potential. In the compact SUV segment, the MG ZS is emerging as an interesting product inspired by British design flair and backed by the Chinese manufacturing philosophy.
The MG ZS is a good option for young buyers and small families who are willing to consider alternatives beyond traditional brands. The ZS promises a combination of style, technology, and value, targeted at city or urban driving needs. With key strengths and appealing characteristics, the 2025 MG ZS seems well-placed to attract new buyers by challenging the established brands by trying to meet the evolving needs of Kingdom car buyers. In this in-depth review, you explore every aspect of this compact SUV to tell you what defines the MG ZS 2025, right from the exterior and tech-laden interior to its performance and value, which will help you make a right choice as to whether this SUV is your next companion, hop on, and read.
Interior
The interior of the ZS is a lot futuristic, and this is especially true if you’re making an upgrade from a 5-7-year-old car. You’ll notice how modern and cutting-edge the overall interior feels. The second you sit in the driver's seat, you realise how good the interior of ZS feels.
Design
- The interior feels quite special for this car segment, worth the money with simple yet quite elegant and very much attention to detail, a lot of premium feel with quality material.
- The interior comes in black or dual-tone black and red, which frankly looks quite amazing.
- The dashboard is nicely placed, excellent design which doesn’t feel totally out of place with the nice touchscreen infotainment system and digital instrument cluster, both add to the appeal and ambience.
- Its design is impressive to say the least, giving the overall interior quite practical and premium.
Driving Position
- Now, at the driving seat, you feel well-positioned with a nicer commanding position, which shouldn’t be a problem for either city or highway, as it gives you good control and visibility.
- The driver’s seat is adjustable for height and lumbar support, so it doesn't matter what size you’re built.
- Another standard feature is the tilt-and-telescopic steering wheel to personalise preference.
- We noticed the windows are large enough, and should not pose any problem for greater visibility whenever needed.
- The electric power steering has three models and they are helpful for accurate and full control.
Passenger Comfort
- Getting into the rear seat tells you another exciting story. We are actually pleasantly surprised to experience the huge amount of space.
- The comfortable seating along with generous legroom, headroom, and shoulder room for most adults
- Rear seats comfortably accommodate taller occupants, making it suitable for families and groups.
- Automatic climate control with rear AC vents is another feature that makes rear passengers comfy, especially on long journeys, and bigger windows for nicer views.
Storage
- Remember, this is a compact SUV, so the space isn’t always big, but that also doesn’t mean a lack of storage.
- There in fact are many practical storage options for everyday essentials provided by MG.
- The centre console gets a decent-sized cooled compartment for all sorts of drinks chilled during hot drives.
- Door pockets and glove box get the standard size space for larger items such as water bottles.
- Multiple cup holders and rear seat back pockets help keep your belongings organised and within easy reach, improving daily usability.
Boot Space
- Looking at the boot would make you feel it is small, but it is not; it is quite big considering the size of the ZS.
- The boot capacity is 448 litres with rear seats up, this should be enough to fulfil everyday needs.
- If you choose to fold the rear seats, and frankly, you need to on some occasions, then the space goes up to a massive 1,375 litres, which means for family trips or some extra load you have to carry.
- Besides, there are some small sections on some edges and corners of the boot, adding extra space for your stuff.
- It can take up a sizable number of small bags or suitcases, and so add to the convenience and practicality element for the average user or a small family.
Safety
Considering the customer focus on safety, just like its rivals in the segment, the MG ZS is offered with most of the standard and advanced safety features. The list of safety features improves overall confidence in the SUV, and you can feel safe during all types of driving.
- The electronic Stability Program with EPBI consists of standard ABS, EBD, CBC, TCS, VDC, HAZ, HHC, and BDW

Ride and Handling
While the MG ZS scores quite well when it comes to features, comfort, looks and design. What is it like to drive and handle? We are finding below.
- Starting with the engine, which seems fine, it is quiet, pulls well enough in low revs, and the acceleration is satisfying.
- We think the 6-speed CVT is just okay; it could have been a little better, but nonetheless does the job just fine.
- Overall driving experience was smooth but not the best, and here MG needed to work a little bit, in terms of refinement by blending the power and torque.
- Between the naturally aspirated 1.5L engines, we noticed the turbo-charged one gives you more power when you actually need it, and so it feels better to drive in different terrains. But for every city, both should do justice, not much of a problem.
- The electric power steering is lighter and makes navigation rather easy.
- The cabin comfort is nothing to complain about, thanks to the fine-tuned suspension. At the front are MacPherson struts, and the rear gets torsion, takes on some rough roads with ease, and doesn’t feel the bumps that much on the Saudi roads. Overall cabin is also very silent, comparable to its rivals in this regard, so you get less fatigue.
- Although sometimes the brakes feel slightly spongy at higher speeds, you need to put firm effort into the pedal pressure.
- Overall, the ZS balance is good in comfort and overall engagement area, and should satisfy buyers in KSA.
- However, this compact SUV is more suited to the urban driving environment rather than highways or some rough roads with three driving modes to choose based on your driving needs.
Features
Generally, MG cars are considered to be packed with the latest, most sophisticated, best in the segment features. The ZS is no different, which is equipped with an excellent list of features for comfort, convenience and entertainment with connectivity.
- The jet-wing-style console and aerodynamic gear lever look beautiful, giving a completely modern look to the cabin.

Variant
The 2025 MG ZS is available in three variants in Saudi Arabia: STD, COM and LUX.
- The STD variants start at an entry price of SAR 64,750, while you lose a lot in terms of features, but this is an attractive price for a compact SUV. Apart from the 1.5L engine with a CVT, this variant carries features like a 10.1-inch infotainment system, keyless entry, rearview camera, parking sensors, ABS, EBD, traction control, and dual airbags. At a very low price point, this variant suits anyone looking for a compact SUV for daily commuting and occasional family use, but doesn’t wish to spend a lot.
- The COM variants being in the middle, start at SAR 71,300, and try to balance between the top and entry-level variants by combining everything at a reasonable price. The features that you get are a digital cluster, leather seats, cruise control, and some extra safety features such as lane departure warning and forward collision warning. Go for it if you want performance as well as comfort and safety.
- There is a higher-powered variant in the COM that pretty much shares the features, other than the obvious powertrain difference with a 1.5L turbo engine. The price is currently not available yet, but we will keep you updated with the latest information.
- LUX, a top variant, starts at SAR 79,983, packed with everything from COM, additionally for the extra price, you get a panoramic sunroof, 17-inch alloy wheels, a 360-degree camera, adaptive cruise control, and MG Pilot ADAS. If you don’t mind spending all that extra money for fully-loaded cars, then the LUX is for you, which has luxury and sophisticated tech.
Sayarabay Recommends: Relatively easy to recommend the LUX variants from the three, which is actually no brainer in terms of what it offers. At SAR 70,725, this variant comes with the familiar powertrain, well complemented by the range of features comprising the panoramic sunroof, 360-degree camera, and MG Pilot ADAS, which should help you with your everyday driving needs. Not just that, but the LUX variants also serve those buyers who prefer a performance-oriented SUV which is luxurious and also safer. But if you’re on an absolutely tight budget, then the Standard variants could be your choice, and if you’re a good bargainer, then perhaps get a good deal in terms of extra features.
Verdict
Our final verdict is largely positive about the MG ZS, which doesn’t mean this is the best compact SUV on the market. There are compelling choices out there, but it does offer a greater overall value, especially if you consider the right variants. So, what we liked about the ZS, which makes it worthy of buying, for starters, the interior is quite nice, feels premium, also apart from the cockpit, the rear seat seems to be quite comfortable due to a lot of space and the same with the boot space. If you want to upgrade or are looking to buy your first ever SUV, the ZS is more appealing than a hatchback. Even though we feel the interior could have been better, and so does the drivetrain. But prices starting at SAR 64,750, the ZS offers are quite irresistible with 7 years of warranty for a peaceful ownership experience, and good to drive on the varied terrain of KSA.
